Barista jobs in Canada for foreigners (NOC 65201) | Urgent Hiring 2023

Barista positions at cafes and coffee shops are popular jobs for foreigners and immigrants in Canada, especially for those with a student or work visa. Canada has a vibrant coffee culture, with many independent cafes in cities across the country serving premium espresso-based drinks. These cafes are always on the lookout for passionate and skilled baristas to join their team.

As a barista in Canada, your main duties will involve operating an espresso machine to prepare hot and cold beverages like espressos, coffees, lattes and frappes. You will need to have a good knowledge of coffee drink recipes and techniques. In addition, you will be expected to provide friendly and prompt customer service, operate a cash register, restock items, and maintain a clean work environment. Some barista positions may also involve basic food preparation like sandwiches or pastries.

The pay for entry-level barista roles in Canada typically ranges from minimum wage to around $15 per hour. Tips from customers can supplement the income. Many cafes provide initial on-the-job training, but coming to Canada with experience as a barista or with barista certification is an advantage. Strong English communication skills are essential for interacting with staff and customers.

Barista work in Canada can be a good option for foreigners on student or working holiday visas looking to gain local work experience, build their language proficiency, and earn an income to support themselves during their time in the country. Seasonal demand and staff shortages in the warmer summer months also mean that short-term temporary barista jobs are often available, suitable for those only in Canada for a few months. Overall, baristas with the right attitude, skills, and work authorization can find rewarding work in Canada’s vibrant cafe culture.
